Like you for the first 8 years or so I had very few GI symptoms but I suffered from a lot on non-GI symptoms. Later the GI symptoms grew more significant. I wish I would have known about dietary interventions to control symptoms back then
While cramps are a hallmark sign it isn't something that effects everyone with IBS. Some people have altered bowel movements and/or pain but no cramping.
Ask lots of questions. There are other doctoral students on the board.
