Oh Gretchen,
I feel so badly for you. Stress can be the biggest trigger I know of. As to foods, it' not about denial, it's about choice. The right choice equals the right body response (normal digestive activity with no pain).
You say you have MVP? I'll bet you're never thirsty are you? There is a direct correlation, or so I've read with thirst and MVP, and many who have had it have been able to cure it simply by drinking MORE water, even though they don't want to. It always sounded strange to me, but just out of shear curiosity I started asking people with MVP about their thirst levels and sure enough, not one of them said they knew when they were thirsty. Why this all is, I haven't a clue.
Hmmm, my own attacks are sporadic, based on what I eat, amount I eat, or if I DON'T eat, or stress. As to frequency, I'm afraid I can't pin point it like Bev. I just don't want it to rule my life so I don't even think about frequency, just about trying to AVOID one by being premeditative in all my actions that may trigger those nasty pains.
