Two of the authors of the article are the Australian researchers that developed the FODMAP approach.

Not sure about cherries but in the paper reference below they did some measurements on some common Australian fruits and veggies. Of course the results might be different for some varieties found elsewhere in the world.

In the abstract they say "Fruits with low, but detectable, fructans included longon, white peach, persimmon, and melon (range, 0.21-0.46 g/100 g fw).". Individuals sensitive to fructans may have problems with these fruits. Also, wheat, rye, and barley contain fructans.
