I too once received an email from osbo54
'You do not know what you are talking about, and you are very annoying! '
replied in kind and that was the end of it. ignore him. (if it was that easy!)

I am really sorry to hear about your trouble with people around you holly/julie, number of times people advised me to eat bran and raw vegetables or when we were eating out: 'surely you can just have a salad' (no I can't just have a salad, raw vegetables with oily sauce is just what I need, yes). or totally unqualified people maintaining that I have candida as they've never heard of fructans. and such people are not only annoying but I find them hard to just ignore.

the IBS CD explains v well the whole thing to family members though, I don't have better advice either I'm afraid, but know that we all know on here how real IBS is and we do sympathise.

now: stable through EFI+FODMAP dieting (no lactose/no fructose/some fructans and some polyols)

before: IBS-D(pseudo-diarrhoea), bloating, often unbearable pain esp from too much fat: Apr 2007- Dec 2010

[I've tried VSL#3 -> I could tolerate v good amounts of IF (even with less SF), it worked great (but overall I find it too expensive)]
