Well, as far as motion sickness, I think it depends on where you're cruising and when. We cruised to the Caribbean once and also the Hawaiian Islands once. While the Caribbean was calm, it was the right time of the year -- not during hurricane season -- so the cruising was smooth, thus no motion sickness.
On the other hand, we cruised the Hawaiian Islands, and took a side cruise from Maui to Lanai, not knowing it was one of the roughest seas -- wow, EVERYONE got seasick. The island literally ran out of seasick pills!
I used a wrist ("pressure") band that was supposed to ward off seasickness. I don't know if it worked, because I was very woozy -- but at least I didn't puke!
Oh, and if you DO get seasick, it's best to just lay down somewhere -- ANYWHERE -- where the floor below you is solid, and try to forget that there's ocean underneath that floor!
