Perhaps it depends on whether or not the soy extract contains either of the two sugars raffinose and stachyose which are the indigestible sugars found in most legumes such as soy. Lecithin, a fat, and soy oil, don't contain these sugars. You might try taking some Beano before eating soy to see if it helps with these indigestible sugars. You can read more about it here.
