yes, I am actually responsible for almost everyone doing them. I started it almost 8 years ago, maybe longer I think now and they helped me so I started to promote them on the IBS self help group and then here. It helped me a lot, by 85 percent. some of my symptoms are pretty much completely gone, like bloating and distension, which use to happen to me a lot and now almost not at all. It also help to relax the gut and release trapped gas, so it didn't cause as much pain and helped a real lot with pain and with my bowel movements which are more regulated and I have less d even though I am an alternator, it was more on the d side. I sometimes would have to go like 5 or more times in the mornings and that is pretty much gone as well.

Some of these changes have been long term for sure. It is seriously the best thing that ever actually worked and worked well for my IBS. I can also eat some foods I couldn't before.

It also help greatly with incomplete evacuation for me.

I have had problems since here and there due to massive heat stress the summer before last and a serious case of shingles that got infected, but I also self taught myself after using the tapes, and use hypnotherapy everyday now. It also helped my insomnia a ton and reduced anxiety as a side effect. It also seemed to just basiocally calm my brain gut axis.

I enjoy it even if I didn't have IBS. It can help a lot of things.

They might not help everyone, but it is very much worth a try and you don't know until you try them.

Dr Whorewell in England started HT for IBS over twenty years ago. The below is from DR Paulllson a frined of mine and another leading researcher in IBS and in HT for ibs.

Mike's is excellent and has a lot of experince with HT and IBS and a lot of insight for someone who doesn't have it.

Hypnosis is only one of several approaches to treating irritable bowel syndrome and may not be the most suitable option for all patients (click here for discussion of treatment options for IBS). However, hypnosis treatment has some advantages which makes it an attractive option for many IBS sufferers with chronic and severe symptoms:

- It is one of the most successful treatment approaches for chronic IBS. The response rate to treatment is 80% and better in most published studies to date.

- The treatment often helps individuals who have failed to get improvements with other methods (see for example: Whorwell et al., 1984, 1987; Palsson et al., 1997, 2000).

- It is a uniquely comfortable form of treatment; relaxing, easy and generally enjoyable.

- It utilizes the healing power of the person's own mind, and is generally completely without negative side effects.

- The treatment sometimes results in improvement in other symptoms or problems such as migraine or tension headaches, along with the improvement in IBS symptoms.

- The beneficial effects of the treatment last long after the end of the course of treatment. According to research, individuals who improve from hypnosis treatment for IBS can generally look forward to years of reduced bowel symptoms.
