You can put in these any type of ready-made soft tortilla that you like and can eat (flour, corn, light corn, wheat, etc.). It bakes into the shape of the fluted pan. This gives you a nice baked crisp tortilla shell to fill with whatever you like, like a bowl.
You can also use this to make baked tortilla chips and break the shell apart and into pieces once crispy. Saves having to cut up tortillas and put them on a cookie sheet to be baked.
Typically this shape is used for a salad in a Mexican restaurant, though I fill mine with anything I can tolerate, including homemade chili with soy cheese on top.
Just use your imagination and consider the baked shell a serving dish that you can eat... and no serving dish to wash!
