Bananas and why they can be good or bad

I learned this in school and thought it was interesting and very true. I am studying holistic health. ALot of times people say bananas are one of the best things for them, others say that they are gassy and constipating. The reason for this according to chinese medicine is that bananas have a "cold" quality to them. They are cooling to the body as are salads, cucumbers, raw foods. FOods that are fried, sweet, too much baked or spicy have a "hot" quality and tend to cause heat in the body which will lead to dampness (like a swamp). You can have constipation due to cold in the intestines in which there is not enough warm energy to get things moving, or you can have it due to heat or damp in which the intestines become dry and there is not enough fluid to moisten the bowels, or the damp becomes obstructive. So bananas may be good for someone who has a heat condition, but may make constipation and gas worse for someone with a cold condition. Of course you can alternate back and forth so one day a banana may be a good idea and the next week not!
INteresting huh makes sense, just thought id share:)
