I would prefer sugar over artificial sweetners. I only speak from my own personal experience, (as opposed to research or he said she said), and I can honestly say that I feel better when on less sugar. I, too, have blood sugar issues. I can't say that I don't consume any at all, but my consumption is minimal, and I do feel better without it.

The only way you will know is to cut down, as your ND says, and see how you feel. There might be a withdrawal period, at least, there was for me. If you are paying you ND for her help and advice, why not follow it to see how you feel. And then reintroduce sugar if you feel the need to.
