Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I know, I know. the ambiguity of IBS alone is almost as bad as its symptoms. We all wish we could just find out what's causing it 'cause then I'm sure we would all do and sacrifice whatever it took to be normal. Then I sometimes have to check my head and ask myself if I'm crazy when I wonder if I'd be better off having something that I could at least put my finger on and know what it was even if it was cancer or whatever. Anybody who doesn't have IBS has no idea what we go through - it's not something they can see or hear about so "it can't be that serious" or "it's all in our heads."(please do not be offended, I know cancer is a serious illness that I am not making light of...just trying to make my point).

Anyway, with so many possibilities as to what the cause might be, we're stuck suffering while we spend years by most accounts going to doctors (usually making little progress) or just trying to figure it out for ourselves.
