Just as an aside I don't think the "hip" area pain is related to a woman's cycle, as I am male and that's one of my predominant pain areas. I describe it as if I was hollow with a bowling ball inside me harnessed to my hip bones. It's like a pain/downward pulling pressure combo. Weird as all get up and I never felt anything like it til I was diagnosed with IBS.
As for the original post, I had a stomach bug this Dec (at 28 years old) that was pretty virulent, and then I was normal for two months with random periods of urgency when I ate something fatty/delicious, to finally another bug (may have been just first signs of IBS D) at a period of intense stress. Since then it's been daily pain and misery.
So then, what caused it, the original bug, the 2nd bug, the stress, a gradual build up of a diet high in dairy, meat, and processed sugars (though I was never overweight)? That's a good question, and one medical science hasn't quite got to yet.
Good times
