I was one of those people who was afraid to eat anything for a while. Once I read Heather's book, though, I started thinking back on my diet and realizing why a lot of the foods I ate/drank gave me attacks.
So I cleaned out my entire kitchen - threw away anything that wasn't IBS safe and stocked it full of safe foods. I started with the bland diet and was able to eat the foods because I told myself that these were safe foods and weren't going to cause me any trouble.
