I don't have the science to back it up but I think this notion that the estrogen in soy is dangerous is phooey. If it was, people in China and Japan would have serious health concerns (be impotent and unfertile and dying of female cancers and having horrible menopause). Besides people don't realize how much soy is in normal foods. Just about every premade food has soy in some form. For people with soy allergies it is difficult to eat anything. A lot of people are talking about soy causing health problems but I have never seen real warnings or any real scientific findings to back it up. Edamame is still recommended by nutrionists.
That said, soy milk is fine for cooking, smoothies, ice cream, but it is heavy for drinking and cereal. I use rice milk for that.
