Specific Carbohydrate Diet Question

Hello. I know that this topic must have been talked about in the past, however, it is the first time I am thinking about it w/my own long time battle w/IBS. In an effort to shed a few pounds ( and general feeling of bloat) prior to a cruise, I have been eating fruit, cottage cheese, pretzels, soups, and little carbs in the form of breads. Now I know that this is the complete opposite of what I usually try to stick to w/Heather's Diet. I am off work for the summer (teacher) and have access to the toilet.

Being unaware of the pseudo- SCD I have been on for the past week, I have been shocked that although the D (urgency and loose) is still there, I am not in pain and/or cramping up.

Please, Please can anyone speak to their experiences w/the SCD and why on Heather's diet we are encouraged to eat bread, rice, and pasta when the SCD discourages that due to the complex-carbs and sugars? I am in no way wanting to start trouble here, I am really interested in the the reasoning behind the "bread" difference in the two approaches.

Thanks!
