Yup, tea contains tannin and getting out the caffeine doesn't remove the tannin. I do okay with decaf tea as long as I don't brew it for too long. For hot tea, I brew for about a minute; for iced tea I brew for no more than 5 minutes before removing the tea bag from the pot. It may be all in my head but that seems to keep the tannin level bearable for me. If I make iced tea and leave the tea in the water until it cools, it just kills my tummy.

If you want to make iced tea from herbal teas, Culinary Teas makes a couple of roobios blends that are good cold: Florida Orange and Rainbow.
