So you have C predominent IBS? It is the hardest to get stable. Bentyl IMO can make C worse. I am not sure but 3T of acacia after starting only 3 months ago seems pretty fast. Water/tea, exercise and lots of healthy fiber (SF mixed with IF) is the best for C. I would wait before increasing the acacia, but don't give up on it. Remember that IBS isn't curable and try to think of the whole picture- making the gut stable- not alleviating temporary gas. So I feel staying with acacia is important. IMO getting regular regarding BMs has to come first before the pain, 'twistiness', gas and bloating is improved.
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
