My friends,

I have suffered from what I believe to be IBS-D for many years. I am seeing a gastroenterologist. I have tested negative for gluten intolerance and will be taking a lactose intolerance test soon. I am pretty sure I have IBS though. Things like carbonated sodas and fried foods make my symptoms worse.

This past year I have really tried to avoid the fried foods and excessive lactose. This has made my D much more rare. I have found that by passing gas, I can eliminate the D attacks ( I guess because if I don't pass gas the gas builds up in my stomach?).

The only problem is now I pass gas constantly, which is obviously an embarrassing issue. Sometimes I either burp or pass gas every 5 minutes.

On Wednesday I had a dinner of marinated chicken with 4 slices of whole wheat bread and had really bad gas the whole night. I eat a lot of whole wheat stuff, so I am thinking maybe this is part of the issue?

Yesterday I started changing my diet to eliminate whole wheat and lactose, to see if that helps at all. I am still passing gas at least once or twice every ten minutes, but they are not particularly smelly or intense.

Could it be that the whole wheat is still in my system? How long would it take to completely digest 4 slices of whole wheat bread eaten on wednesday?

I also have been taking digestive advantage IBS for about a week. Is there any chance that this would be exacerbating the problem?

Thanks for the help I know this was kind of rambling...
