Like Little Minnie said, there may be something triggering that response in your diet. It is common though to alternate between IBS-C and D. You can print up this diet cheat sheet to help you determine if you are consuming a trigger or not eating properly http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/cheatsheet.asp.
I would also start to increase your dose of acacia for some extra support. Again, like Little minnie said, you are currently taking a pretty low dose. I would start to increase your dose by adding 1/2 teaspoon to your daily dose every 4-5 days or so. Pay attention to your bowel habits, and when you normalize, you should stick at that dose for maintenance. The maximum dose is 5 tablespoons a day which equals to around 30 grams of soluble fiber.
I haven't heard of any issues with align. Taking a good probiotic supplement is recommended for IBS to help reinoculate the gut with good bacteria. Also taking soluble fiber like acacia on a regular basis will help to promote the growth of the good bacteria in your gut because you're giving them a steady food supply.
You can buy probiotics (the good bacteria for your gut) at most health food stores as a supplement. The general recommendations for buying a good probiotic are to select one with several bacterial strains and as many colonizing units as possible (in the billions). Make sure there are no IBS triggers, Inulin, or FOS (notorious for causing gas and bloating).
Best, Erin
