I remember having the same fears before my wedding in 2001. I actually ate very little the few days before and nothing at all the day of the wedding for fear that I'd have to run to the bathroom. I was exhausted after the wedding and didn't even try the food or cake At times when my IBS is not flaring up I think about how silly that was. But when its flaring up, it brings me back to the thought that we do what we have to do to get through it. At the time I also wasn't watching what I was eating and I really had no support.
