Thank you all for the responses. I'm sorry that I haven't replied sooner. I was talking with a friend tonight who has chrohn's and ibs and she really has me thinking.
Taylor stopped growing when he was 3 months old. I kept taking him to the pediatrician and I was always told that he was fine. When he was 1, we moved and found a new pediatrician. She immediately was concerned. He had the bone age of a 3 month old baby. After numerous tests, an endocrinologist diagnosed him as having a vitamin a and d deficiency. We were just supposed to give him more of these vitamins.
As far back as I can remember, not to be gross, but he has had very watery, horribly foul smelling diarrhea. Even as an infant.
When he was 3, he was diagnosed with adhd, but is unable to take the medications as they turn him into a zombie. This is just something that we have has to deal with. He is learning to manage his behavior.
The last few days, he has been complaining of reflux symptoms...stomach ache, feeling like he's going to vomit, and burning in his chest.
Anyway, long story short, my friend think he was misdiagnosed and actually has celiac disease. I'm not sure what I think. My pediatrician just moved and a new one took over her office. The new dr. is amazing. I'm thinking that maybe I should make an appointment with him and see what he thinks. I'd really like to find him a good g.i. dr. but there are only 2 that see children within a couple of hours. One we saw, and one that I fired when he cared for my youngest child.
I guess I may be over analyzing things. I feel guilty in a way. My youngest was born with heart problems and was a very sick little guy for quite a while. I didn't pay as close attention to things as I should have. So, I feel like maybe I didn't pay as close attention as I should have.
As far as the immodium goes, I don't really have a problem with it. I'm not overly fond over medications. But, with me, I got to the point before I found this site where it no longer had any affect on me because I had to take it so much.
I'm going to have a talk with him and we are going to make a plan for Christmas break, and I am also going to try out the recommendations that I have gotten.
