Hi! I'm new here, but I found this website last spring and so many things about my "sensitive" stomach became clear to me after reading the page. I have what I would characterize as mild IBS - nothing that is seriously impairs for me, but nonetheless interferes with my life, even though I'm very careful about what I eat. My problem remains that I have always had an incredibly fast metabolism. If I don't eat every hour to two hours at the very most, I get dizzy and weak and feel very very ill. Sometimes I can't even sleep through the night without having to get up and have a snack because my hunger wakes me up. I've always tried to eat a diet high in protein and fat because your body metabolizes these more slowly, so you stay full longer. After reading this page, I realized that maybe I'm compounding the problem and my body is using up all of its energy just to digest what I eat. For the last 8 months, I have tried various things and when I can eat whenever I want, I do okay having less fat in my diet that I used to (eating more soluble fiber foods). The problem is, I'm a musician and a student and I'm often in situations where I can't eat for several hours (playing a rehearsal or a concert, for instance). Does anyone have any suggestions on balancing IBS with the need to eat foods that will keep me full for longer? Sorry for such a long post, I figured the back story would be helpful...
