As for the soup - well, if the veggies are cooked well in it, you should be fine. I would try not to worry too much about the celery - unless there's tons of it - which there likely isn't. You can always yes, work your way around them when eating the soup. And as long as it's a broth and not a milk base, you should be able to eat some of it. Why not ask your pastor what kind of soup it is? You can ask just out of curiosity or just say that you have sensitivities to certain foods and were wondering about the ingredients.
