Everyone here should feel awesome about lowering their carbon footprint by not eating beef (and pork). Much of the shortage of corn and grains that have prices so high are the result of grain going to feed animals humans will digest. If people do eat red meat encourage them to buy organic, grass fed meat. It is healthier, more humane and better for the earth!
Production of animal protein uses two to fives times more grain to provide the same amount of calories! A 20% reduction in meat consumption in the US would be comparable to greenhouse gas savings of every car being switched to a Prius! Encourage people to eat one meat free dinner per week for a start. Americans eat twice the global average of meat per day. When folks complain about corn being used for ethanol and it driving up the prices tell them that corn for beef cattle is a large culprit of grain shortage and price increases and that we should work toward using more green energy sources like methane from cattle manure/gas. Everyone wins! Pat yourself on the back for already ridding your diets of red meat.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
