It really depends on your system and also how much and what kind of insoluble fiber you will be eating. For things like pasta salad you eat the IF right along with the SF. If I am having rice and a cooked veggie with my meal I will eat about 1/4c rice before I take any of the vegetable. I always eat a banana before IF fruit. There is no real rule. It just helps to understand that putting in IF on its own will cause reactions; try to visualize what is going to happen in your gut.
