I never tested positive for gluten antibodies. But I heard that if you have none to very low immunoglobulin A (which is my case) the test can be false negative. So I tried the GF diet and noticed some improvement (that was back in 06). Now that I think about it I was also eating very little sugar at that time so it could have been a combination of both. And I was eating dairy. I still have no idea if dairy is a yes or a no for me - I think something else every week, lol! I'll experiment once I'm stable.
I didn't notice anything different since I started the Acacia. I don't feel worse but I don't feel better either.
I never met with a dietitian, I'm just using the information I've read in books/on the internet. I realized that I wasn't careful enough with gluten since it's actually in a lot of non-wheat cereals (honey-nut cheerios, generic rice chex...) hidden as barley malt extract. Some ethic cuisine sauces also contain gluten (last one I noticed was Kikkoman's black bean sauce in my fridge). So stuff like that I just really need to watch out for.
I'm currently scheduled for another GI test - my last one I guess. It's the pillcam test and I'm having it done next Tuesday. The only thing I think they could possibly find would be flattened villi that the endoscopy missed (they didn't go far down enough, etc.). But even if that's negative many people can still be gluten intolerant even when no physical damage is shown. I think that's my case since I do feel better GF. I think . I'll know for sure once I'm stable!
How are you doing? Which diet are you following at the moment? EFI?
