Poor you - I think your experience just goes to show that stress, and also *how* you eat, can have just as big an impact on IBS symptoms as *what* you eat. You might think you are eating safe foods but if your body is stressed (for example, due to travelling, or some other disruption of routine) then safe food can become unsafe food. And scouring a menu for IBS-safe choices can be stressful in itself! Like other posters, I do find symptoms worse on an empty stomach, so I carry bananas, white pitta bread, home-made muffins to nibble on, as well as peppermint caps. I hope your difficulties didn't spoil your weekend completely.
