Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | If you are eating out at a restaurant...

... and think you are ordering something reasonably safe, and can't understand why you still get sick, this may be why:

I was researching where to go for a Valentine's dinner with hubby tonight, and I found that one of my favourite restaurants (Kelsey's) actually has nutritional info online! Hurray!!! So I looked through the menu first thinking I'd find something that looked reasonably safe and then check the info. Well I thought this sounded okay:

"Lemon Pepper Salmon
A tender salmon fillet sprinkled with lemon-pepper seasoning, grilled and topped with a warm tomato and cilantro salsa. Served on a bed of rice with a side of seasonal vegetables."

How bad could that be? Well..... how about a whopping 51 grams of fat???

If I had not looked up the nutritional info I would have been eating that tonight thinking I would be pretty safe - but even if I ate only half of it I would still be getting about 25 grams of fat. Blech!!!

I'm going to have this instead:

"Shrimp Pasta Marinara
Tender shrimp, saut�ed mushrooms, roasted red peppers, spinach and spices tossed with linguine in our signature marinara sauce."

Much better at 16 grams of fat - I will only eat half, making it about 8 grams of fat.

Wow I wish every restaurant would put their nutritional info online!
