I was just reading some of the links re: IBS and a possible psychological link and man...I am really upset.

It said that depression/anxiety is more prevalent in people with IBS.

Well...DUH! If everyone else in the world was scared they'd [censored] themselves or be doubled over in pain every time they eat/go out/get stressed I am pretty sure they'd develop some depression or at least a little anxiety.

How can people be so cruel as to say that it's all or partially psychologically? Heaps of people with very bad anxiety and depression have great bowel function.

Tell me this guys...if you awoke tomorrow perfectly cured of IBS and you could eat anything and everything would you feel happier and less anxious? I jolly well would!

I am just so sad that they even claim there is a link...I honestly think that yes, sometimes stress makes it worse but what makes me stress? The WORRY that I'll never be able to have a croissant and coffee in public again unless I am within a handspan to a toilet.

I just wanted you all to know that I KNOW this isn't in our heads and it really sickens me that this illness along with CFS is treated like a psycho illness by some.
It's just so disgusting that they could say stuff like that.

Do your best to be hopeful and happy because I really think the key to beating this thing is finding and avoiding triggers. Don't let anyone ever tell you this is in your head.
It's not our brains that cramp it's our bowels!
