Yeah, I wish I knew what stable feels like, too! I think that everyone has their own standard when it comes to "stable". And (at least from what I've read here) to me it seems (and I might be wrong) that D people are more lenient in their definition. I guess that would be true because while I do get C, I think the D is FAR worse. If I could get rid of the D I would happily live with the occasional bout of C! I've seen people stating something like "I'm pretty stable because my D is gone and I only get pain and bloating". For me, however, having pain and bloating is far from being stable. But I do understand that getting rid of D is a huge improvement for someone who felt like she was about to spend the rest of her life sitting on a toilet. Constipation at least doesn't keep me from leaving my house (it's cramps and pain but we all have those, C's and D's). See, that's it for me - I've lived those days where I was afraid to leave the house. Although I've had times when I've been C only to suddenly have an explosive urge of D. I can't win. So I think that stable means seeing a huge improvement in your symptoms, whether it means getting rid of C/D or not being bloated all the time. For me stable would be not having pains and cramps and bloating and feeling pretty much the same way I was pre-IBS. I really hope to get there one day . Yes, me too! Or at least back to a period of stable "remission", like I used to get. I've had IBS my entire teen and adult life, so I don't really remember what "pre-IBS" feels like...
-------------------- IBS-A since age 12, and fructose sensitive; with the exception of my pregnancy, have been following Heather's diet since Nov. 19, 2007.
Taking 12g of Acacia per day. Relatively stable since March 2008!
