Yeah, I wish I knew what stable feels like, too!
I think that everyone has their own standard when it comes to "stable". And (at least from what I've read here) to me it seems (and I might be wrong) that D people are more lenient in their definition. I've seen people stating something like "I'm pretty stable because my D is gone and I only get pain and bloating". For me, however, having pain and bloating is far from being stable. But I do understand that getting rid of D is a huge improvement for someone who felt like she was about to spend the rest of her life sitting on a toilet. Constipation at least doesn't keep me from leaving my house (it's cramps and pain but we all have those, C's and D's).
So I think that stable means seeing a huge improvement in your symptoms, whether it means getting rid of C/D or not being bloated all the time. For me stable would be not having pains and cramps and bloating and feeling pretty much the same way I was pre-IBS. I really hope to get there one day .
