The benefits of food combining are unsubstantiated with research. Your digestive tract is made to handle a variety of nutrients at the same time. There is no proof that food is digested better when carbohydrate and protein are presented separately. Your stomach juices are very acidic with a ph between 2 and 3. Very little that you eat will change the acidity of your stomach.

The benefits you are experience with your IBS is most likely related to eating smaller meals more frequently. As Heather says "Some other general guidelines that are helpful for IBS are equally beneficial for reflux, particularly eating small meals frequently and taking soluble fiber supplements."
