Hi Pringles! Red meat is such a no-no; I gave it up a long time ago and don't miss it at all -- except occasionally for a quarter-pounder with cheese. But can you imagine what that would do to me? WOW, it ain't worth it!!! I too gave up the dairy -- ALL dairy -- because it did such a number on me. I did everything Heather recommended except for the coffee, which I finally gave up 2 days ago. It wasn't easy, but I feel better already so I know it was the right thing to do. Amazing how right she was in that book! You might try her other book, "Eating for IBS." (I'm assuming the book you bought was "IBS, The First Year"?) The cookbook has some fantastic recipes in it, like her pizza, chocolate applesauce cake, pumpkin apple spice bread, breakfast rice pudding, gingerbread and incredible "Brer Rabbit Carrot Cake" (which I thought was so good it didn't need the icing). By the way, if you ever do crave hamburgers like I still do, give Boca Burgers a try. They're really surprisingly good. Cheers! Bev.
