OK Hi again, I used to be funDiva Christy but my registration would not allow me to log in again so now I'm funDivaChristy!!

I had self diagnosed IBS in July of 2005. I got the IBS Hypnosis CDs and was completely normal again fairly quickly, about 30ish days, I followed the diet til I was better then went back to eating whatever I wanted.

Although for me eating whatever I wanted is pretty restricted by choice - I already avoid most of the triggers as a vegan, no sugar, no caffeine, no alcohol etc.

All was well, then my baby kitten went to catnip heaven (baby kitten was 18 years old LOL) and I relapsed into compulsive gambling and ugh smoking for a year. (Starting March 2006) Finally I was able to quit gambling again March 2007 and just about that time I realized I was having a relapse of IBS. Took me a while to wake up - I could kick myself for not realizing oh yeah I have d 5 days a week must be ibs again. But because of the gambling addiction, I really think I was having IBS earlier but not acknowledging it.

Luckily dug up my CDs and started listening again and went back to ultra safe eating. I had kept a chart of my food/bathroom stuff last time (2005) so I knew I got significantly better after just 30 days of hypnosis but this time it wasn't happening as fast. I am fairly certain I was putting myself under more stress and trying to rush the process, so I was attributing my lack of recovery to self directed anxiety.

And in 2005, but the time my insurance process of seeing a main doc (which I did not have a GP to start), then the stupid long wait for a referral to a GI and then waiting to get tests done, I never did get an actual confirmation of elimination of other possibilities than IBS and by the time I was supposed to get my colonoscopy, I was symptom free and the nurse at the GI office asked why I even was being seen, so I never had it done.

So I still have no regular doc, I went in desperation in July 2007, got the stupid referral again and went to see a GI last week and was scheduled for colonoscopy next Monday

This doc was an idiot. He told me that food had nothing to do with ibs, and that he does cspy without anesthesia because of the high risks, but after looking online I am certain that I do not want the drug versed, as I have verry strong reactions to drugs. I dont even take aspirin or anything OTC, and the reason I dont drink alcohol is that I hate the feeling of being buzzed or out of control

He also told me that psyllium is the wonder fiber and the reason most people have gas is because they dont take enough, then proceeded to tell me to take benefiber, which is not psyllium and gave me a sample so old it was still guar gum, not wheat dextrin like it is now.

I called to cancel my appt today and the receptionist put me on hold when I told her I was not rescheduling I was just canceling. I told her I wasnt sure I wanted the procedure w/o anesthetic. So she gets the doctor on the phone and he lectures, argues and yells at me some more for being an idiot for listening to any research on the internet and that all the other doctors in town (since he is the only one to do cspy w/o anesthesia) are killing their patients and noone knows about it.

In his office he had said he wanted me to be awake because he didnt want to accidentally poke a hole in my colon and end up in emergency surgery.

At this point I am rambling and crying and much of this does not make any sense.

I know that it would be best for me to get the colonoscopy. I like the idea of getting it done without being knocked out, but I remember (and can't find now) a post where Heather said under no circumstance to get cspy without anesthetic. Also my Mom (who used to be a nurse) and had a cspy last year agrees.

Oh and I was better after finishing the 100 days of hypnosis this time, but not as good as last time, UNTIL I quit smoking finally like a month ago, now I am all gummed up, which is weird cuz I was always prone to D before and now I just have slow mush that feels like it is never finished. I know smoking affects digestion, so now I am wishing I could have made myself quit sooner, but when I couldnt have food at least I could smoke.

I have no idea what my point is.

OK Has anyone done their colonoscopy without any drugs? I am certainly not going back to this GI but if I could find someone who would work with me to keep the drugs to a minimum I would prefer that.

Has anyone had a virtual colonoscopy? I understand the docs are reluctant to do this as it is more expensive and they dont make any money off it, AND if it ends up that I have polyps I would have to have a regular one anyway, but if not that would solve some of my issues.

AND does anyone have a great GI in Las Vegas?

all for now
