In addition to being high in fat, egg yolks are another of those "hard to digest" things:

Quote:

Meat, dairy products, and egg yolks are particularly dangerous for all aspects of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In some people their high fat content causes violent, rapid colon spasms and triggers diarrhea. Alternately, for others their heavy animal proteins, complete lack of fiber, and very low water content can lead to drastically slowed colon contractions (or one prolonged colon spasm, which is extremely painful) and severe constipation.

From web page

According to this website, eggs get about 60% of their calories from fat (virtually all of it from the yolk) which is way high as a percentage but as a single ingredient in something else should be manageable. They do have significant saturated fat but they also contain mono- and poly-unsaturated fats so I don't think I'd consider their type of fat necessarily bad. As for cholesterol, I haven't paid a lot of attention lately but my understanding is that cardiologists currently think the cholesterol our bodies manufacture is worse for us than the cholesterol we consume. So we should watch out for saturated fat more than for cholesterol in the food we eat.

You may actually find egg yolks easier to digest if they're hard-boiled. I've heard anecdotally that hard boiling them makes them easier to handle but I don't know why that would be unless it breaks down the protein somehow.

To slide into anecdote for a moment I, like LittleMinnie, find egg yolks very hard on my gut. I tolerate them in small amounts as an ingredient (say in light mayonnaise or some bakery goods) but just eating a whole egg - even with other foods to "dilute" the fat level - is very tough on me. They seem far too rich which perhaps is just another way of saying "hard to digest".
