with you. I found that increasing SF and decreasing IF made quite a bit of difference to many of my symptoms but it did not reduce the pain. Also I found that SFS and dietary supplements usually made the problem worse. Eventually, I figured out that foods that contained high amount of fructose were causing my pain and that I could substitute rice, pasta and potatoes for SFS. You may have experiment a bit more to find your source of pain.

One thing that I found helpful was to create a base diet for myself that I immediately fell back to whenever my IBS symptoms worsened. I would stick to that diet until my symptoms were under control and then start experimenting again. My base diet was oatmeal, grilled chicken breast, cool rice, boiled carrots and homemade sourdough bread.

I have had IBS for at least 35 years. It wasn't until 4 years ago that I discovered this web site and learned about the importance of balancing the ratio of SF and IF in my diet. It took another 2 years to figure how much fructose I could handle. Now I am quite stable and almost pain free.
