Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

Hey - I'm going for my first one next week and am not looking forward to it. I read the information under the Chron's section and found it to be very entertainingly written (for something so difficult) and informative. Mine isn't until the afternoon. Basically that day I do the liquid yucky drink and that's probably all I'll get down as I have to stop all fluids by 9:30. But the day before I'm on a liquid diet. What you're allowed to have is very much nothing. Any suggestions? I'm going to try the Pedialyte that was recommended as I hate Gatorade. But I've sworn off soda because of the carbination (but might have ginger ale in case I get nauseous), I may have found low sodium vegetable broth (I'm veggie so the others are out). Jello, yippey (all my favorite flavors aren't allowed because of the dye). They allow me to have Boost (vanilla only) but I'm concerned b/c even thought it's lactose free, it has milk protein. Does anyone know if soy/oat/rice milk is OK? The instructions say to avoid dairy. Any other suggestions to keep from starving and getting a wicked headache before all the fun begins?

I know the test itself is no big deal. The prep is the awful part. But I also plan to bring one of Heather's books and have it out with my doctor (afterwards of course) because I'm quite angry with the lack of help she's provided over the last year in particular. I know she's not as bad as a lot of them, but she's taken on so many patients that I don't even think of her as my doctor anymore because I only see her PA. Sorry about griping but truly looking for help on the whole clear liquid diet the day before. Thanks. You guys are the greatest. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found this site 3 weeks ago.
