I totally feel your pain!! I suffered from severe sciatica for several months a few years ago. Some mornings, it would take me half an hour or more (and my DH practically carrying me) to make it from the bed to the toilet. I couldn't put weight on my own feet because the nerve pain was so excruciating. I have a few women say the pain was like giving birth to all of their children at one time! I've never been in labor, but I can honestly say that's the worst pain I've ever been in in my LIFE.
I, too, had several epidurals that didn't last long. I don't remember them exacerbating my IBS though. But I was on so many pain killers, narcotics, steroids, etc. After 2 or 3 epidurals, I finally had surgery. It's not very typical for a 25-year-old to have back surgery, but I'm SO glad I did. The pain was gone when I woke up in the recovery room after surgery. Definitely consider this if it's an option!!
