We all can choose whatever docs we want to see and you can change docs anytime but there are rules you have to follow depending on your insurance or if it is a specialist. A specialist will want a referral from your primary doctor. That way they know the basic issues behind your problem have been ruled out. Specialists don't have the time to deal with general issues. They want the details so they can then try to pinpoint the problem. Insurance may not pay for the specialist if you were not refered by your primary doctor or another specialist.
I've been in labor and can't imagine that your pain is the same. I would think that it is worse as it is never ending whether it be your back pain or your IBS. I hope you find someone who is willing to help you.
