You know, sometimes it seems like IBS is sort of akin to algebra. I mean, in algebra, they are always trying find out what "x" is, solving for the variable. With IBS, there are so many variables, so many possibilities in terms of factors that affect how we feel physically.

Ok, sorry for the dorky, intro. I was just trying to find an interesting way to start my post, lol. Here's the scenario: last week I was doing great, having normal BMs and not feeling any urgency. Then I got a sinus infection/cold on Wednesday, but still my IBS was fine (amazingly!). Then, starting Sunday, things went downhill. Since then, I've been having D and looser BMs. It's starting to scare me because I feel like I was back before I discovered this website and Heather's diet -- and it was really bad then.

However, there are a few factors to consider. First off, I was put on provera over a week ago to induce my period. Well, seven days later I still didn't get my period, although I got some more cramping and lower back pain, which usually come along with it. So could the hormones be messing with my IBS? Also, I started the hypno tapes Sunday night, and somehow they made me a little more anxious, because the next morning I had another attack. I hear this can be common, something to do with the subconscious rebelling, so I wanted to know if anyone else who has done the hypno experiences this? And if so, how long until you could stabilize again? I am doing the BTC diet since yesterday, and it seems to helping marginally, but not a great deal yet. Finally, last night I just switched to Lexapro from Zoloft. A lot of people have posted saying that initially they had looser BMs, but after a week that side effect went away and they benefitted. So maybe that's what is going on? Or could it be a combination of everything?

Again, I'm sorry for all the questions. And I know I need to have patience, and that it takes time. It's just that I was feeling so good last week, like things were finally getting under control, and then this setback has made my anxiety rear its ugly head again. I'm hoping that continuing with the hypno will help with the stress and anxiety. So, any advice about how to try and get back on track or replies to these questions would be HUGELY appreciated!!! Thank you once again for helping my sanity
