Hi,
I live in Canada so our med names are different but I take Pariet (rabeprazole) for my GERD. I was on Ranitidine (precription dose of Zantac) until last summer. I had an endocscopy done and when the GI Specialist asked what I take now and I said Ranitidine, she was shocked and said I should not take that because it is known to cause D in alot of people??? The Pariet has been great for me now though.
I have been diagnosed with colitis so I might be slightly different from you in some regards but I do find that I get very bad D when I have forgotten to take my GERD medication. It makes sense because in my opinion the stomach acid that your body is used to having neutralized is now aggravating your stomach and breaking down food differently. The stomach acid could also cause irritation and inflammation in your digestive system = unpleasant D
Not sure if this helps or answers your questions but this is what I have experienced.
Take Care
Bethany
