I plan my meals so that each one contains a soluble fibre (rice, rice toast, oats, potatoes), an insoluble fibre (berries, steamed veg) and a protein (fish, chicken, tofu, egg whites). I don't follow all of Heather's rules (i.e. I eat low fat dairy with no probs, also the occasional egg yolk) so maybe I'm not the best person to ask, but I think if you start thinking in terms of those 3 elements to a meal, that will help.
