You're very lucky that you were able to find the strength to ask for help. Treating my own mild depression has, in turn, helped me to get my IBS under control. My uncle tried (unsuccessfully) to commit suicide a year ago; he struggles with depression and alcohol. I've witnessed a lot of that in my family, so I'm familiar with how devastating it can be.
