I am still having a hard time going back and forth between constipation and sort of diarrhea--been sick and uncomfortable now for about 6 months, and I'm so tired of it. Prior to that I had had IBS, but I could always get stabilized, and it wasn't such a constant problem.
You may recall I had had a parasitic infection which is now gone. The nausea and some of the diarrhea has eased up. So I started trying to add fiber supplements back in--couldn't tolerate them when I had the infection. I was using a product called Medi-Clear which was fiber, protein, vitamins, and probiotics. It was keeping me from getting constipated, but I felt it was causing some diarrhea and other symptoms. So I stopped it, and I felt a little better. Think there was something in it I was sensitive to perhaps. But started getting constipated. I've been trying Benefiber and have tolerated it sort of, but can't find a balance. If I take too little, I'm still constipated. If I increase it, I get diarrhea. Eeeek! Can't get the balance right! I just ordered some acacia in hopes that might be a better option.
In the meantime, any advice? I am starting to wonder if I'll ever have a "normal" bowel movement again. And all of the problems are causing other problems--rectal irritation and probably hemmorhoids. I'm really tired of all this!
