Oats as culprit?

I have been perusing this site for almost 2 yrs - have had IBS for about 20 years. I have been so frustrated because no matter how carefully I eat, I start to get gassy and bloated by 2pm each day. I have tried eliminating soy (which was somewhat helpful - although I miss Very Vanilla in my cereal and breads) and I am still getting some soy because I can't find a tasty alternative to Smart Balance light. Yesterday, for the first morning in AGES, I did not have my rolled oats because I made awesome pumpkin pancakes for my little girls and decided to join them. Amazingly, I did not get my afternoon gas and pain. So, this morning I had baby rice cereal (with flax meal, blueberries, chopped apple, rice protein powder (not used to the taste yet but I love the extra protein), and acacia-my usual extra ingredients). I still haven't had my afternoon pain. I am just so excited that I wanted to share this with other IBS sufferers who can appreciate the frustration. On one hand, I hope I am right because no one likes gas pain - and embarassing gas. On the other hand, I love oats and will miss them. I think I will wait a few weeks and then try instant oatmeal to see if I can handle that. Tomorrow I am going to try cream of wheat. Thanks for reading my rambling words. Any tips in this regard would be appreciated.

IBS-C (or A - with gas and bloating)
