OK, what do you do when "safe foods" don't work anymore. I started on the EFI diet 1 1/2 yrs ago. It seemed to help for the first year or so. Before starting I often had D several times a day but not intense pain or as much urgency. In the last 4 months or so the urgency was close to unbearable. Every car ride seemed to trigger me. Things like potatoes left me veering off the road in pain. It turns out that only eating safe foods still are leaving me in pain and no consistency in BM.

I limited meals to rice or rice noodles with chicken breast or shrimp with steamed carrots. It gets pretty boring when you eat that every day.

Since the EFI diet no longer seemed to work I was considering the Dalhman protocol but the costs seems high, although I agree with getting your bacteria levels in balance.

So I found a patient of his and asked her if anything worked for her. She said that it wore off in a few months and symptoms returned. BUT, she said that Florastor has completely halted her symptoms.

I found out that Costco carries it in Canada for $31.00 for 50 capsules.

I have only been taking it for a few days but this is the first time in months that I haven't had any urgency and BM's are so much better. I can't say enough - even though its supposed to take weeks to months to notice a difference. I noticed relief from the second pill.

Anyone else try this recently? If so, does it continue to work?

I'm desperately hoping it doesn't wear off.
