I guess May won't be all that bad. (Never been here in may, my husband and I moved in June... from Boston, where we're supposed to get the same hot summer, but colder winters, LOL).
I hope the stomach bug gets cleared, I know how hard it is in a large family, where one person gets it from another and so forth - one might even get it multiple times.
Otherwise, I think it would be super easy for you in any restaurant (but an italian, LOL, or a McDonalds...). New Yorkers are generally very health conscious so restaurants are used to requests that things be low fat and stuff.
I hope you like NYC (but be prepared... it's not an outdoorsy kind of place). If you want to meet around that time, post on the board and if I'm free, we can arrange something
