I think the idea with the BTC diet is that it causes intestinal cramps to cease and therefore that can make a person's gut 'travel' better. So without the cramps and resulting stoppages C would stop.

The reason why I don't think my cleansing plan will really work is because I haven't changed my diet since I was stable on Heather's plan my first two summers. I think I am worse now due to sitting more and I think I am most affected by having to sit on the pot after meals and chill- but I don't - and drinking enough and keeping stress down and things like this- things I can't ever really change.
However, I am looking forward to losing weight and breaking my sugar addiction at the very least.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
