I have sooo been in your shoes---only recently too about 2 or 3 months ago. You should have seen my post--I felt like my life was over and the pain was going to be w/ me forever. Well, I started the "break the cycle" diet on this site for about 4 days and then slowly began incorporating IF's and a soluble fiber supplement, followed Heather's advice and now after about 3 months of agony finally feel much better. I am continuing to see results due to the dietary guidelines and the use of supplements. I also just started the hypnosis CD's and really like it. I have a lot of stress issues to work on, so the CD's are perfect for getting me to relax.

My point is--I was devastated and very depressed and came out of it thanks to the wonderful advice of so many people on this site and Heather's advice AND so can you. My GI told me that my symptoms were severe--didn't know why but knew I could learn to control things by dietary control and stress reduction.

My advice to you is use the knowledge that you have in front of you to fight back and regain control of your life. The problem is your body is out of control but the good news is that you can definitly take back that control slowly but surely. Don't push yourself too hard and force healing but follow the guidelines for the IBS diet and try some alternative therapy and you will be far beyond where you are today sooner than you know it. Try not to get so anxious and over stressed (I know it is difficult not too) but you are greatly aggrevating your symptoms by doing so. Lack of sleep is the worst and is directly related to IBS attacks the next day. Instead fuel your energies into positive things like healthy cooking and education on IBS. This will empower you and is better than sitting around confused and depressed.

Keep us up on your progress with the doctors and if you need to have a colonoscopy make sure that you do a search on this website for colonoscopy prep and how to make things easier for yourself prior to the procedure.

Best to you, and have a good day. I promise that the worst of this is right now and you do have better days to look forward too if you use the right tools.
