The seeds are relatively small but they could be the trigger. I have two suspects - one suspect is the seeds and the other is the skins on the zucchini and red peppers. However, I only use 1 tsp and I make the sandwich with relatively thick slices of my homemade sourdough bread. The relish is accompanied with a fairly good portion of SF.
